Gil Nuno Vaz

Brazilian composer and poet, born in Santos, Brazil (1947). Main works written for choir music a cappella and songs, as well as experimental music and mixed media pieces (action music, soundtrack films and theater plays). Ph. D. in Semiotics, at PUC-SP (2001). Thesis: The Chamber of the Song: a semiotic approach to a systemic field. Advisor: Ph. D. and composer Gilberto Mendes. In charge of the Music Course of Santos Catholic University, from 2011 to 2013. Writings on music (History of Independent Music - Brasiliense, 1988), and Semiotics (chapter "The Song Field" in Music and Media, 2007).
